How often do you check in with your body? Our bodies hold the memories of all our life experiences and the emotions that we felt through each. Did you know that chronic pain is often an expression of an emotional state?
We have all felt simple yet powerful manifestations of our emotions in our bodies: nerves causing butterflies in the stomach, embarrassment leading to blushing, or anger leading to that tightening sensation in our chest. Stress, anxiety, depression, fear and anger can be stored in the body over time, manifesting as digestive issues like IBS, skin conditions, disrupted sleep or weakened immunity. Pain and other ailments are caused not only by physical injury, but also by emotional imbalance.
Chinese medicine recognises this connection, and that modern life with its stresses is one of the main causes of illness. Here in the West we tend to favour our rational minds which often leads to disconnect from our bodies. Massage powerfully reconnects mind and body and supports our bodies’ capacity to self-heal.
It’s all about you. Holistic massage aims to treat the whole person, so it is always tailored to your individual needs and preferences. Whether you need to reclaim some ‘me-time’ from your busy life, are feeling run down and in need of nurturing, or have something more specific from which you need pain relief such as muscular tension or an injury, the aim is to restore balance and general wellbeing using a variety of massage techniques , holds and mobilizations of limbs.
Holistic massage is combined with cupping for a longer and unique and deeply relaxing experience. Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine whereby cups are applied on the skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. Face or feet acupressure can be added in this session on request.
We use our facial muscles more than any other muscles in our bodies. Facial Acupressure therapy treats the unique structure of the face to support emotional and stress relief. It incorporates working with the Chinese Acupressure facial map to benefit the whole body. Facial Acupressure can deeply calm the central nervous system which can be beneficial for chronic conditions , for relesing tension ,stimulate the production of collagen, increase blood supply to face and aid lymphatic drainage. Treatments involve preparing the skin and having an extremely relaxing treatment including head, shoulders and neck. You are likely to feel pampered revitalised and truly rested.
This is a whole treatment on the feet including lower leg, a part of our body that is heavily in use and often forgotten about . In Eastern culture the feet are seen as a microcosm of the whole body. Treating the feet can improve functioning of the major organs in our body. The feet have over 200.000 sensory nerves endings so also have a profound effect on the nervous system . Benefits can include improved circulation in legs, stimulating lymphatic drainage, boost the immune system , accellerated healing, improved sleep, stress , pain and anxiety reduction.
